This place is quite special to me because I celebrated my 24th birthday here. What made it even more meaningful was that it was the first time I had ever celebrated my birthday by myself. I was very reluctant to go out at first, as I had never done that before, but once I decided to, I wanted to make sure the place I chose was good.
Since it was my birthday, I was not very fussy about the price. That is when I came across 27 Old Compton Street in Soho, a fast-paced pasta bar. What immediately caught my attention was the menu, which felt simple yet interesting compared to many other Italian restaurants I had seen. I also mentioned that it was my birthday when I made the reservation.
From the moment I entered the restaurant, I felt extremely welcomed. The person serving me seemed even more excited about my birthday than I was, which instantly lifted my mood. Although I had looked at the menu several times beforehand, I was still unsure when I arrived.
Eventually, I decided to order the Paccheri Chicken & Mushroom pasta with added fresh truffle as my main, along with focaccia bread as a side. I would not be lying if I said the focaccia bread with olive oil was out of this world, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pasta itself was incredibly flavourful, with the chicken and mushrooms cooked to perfection. Adding fresh truffle elevated the dish even further and easily made it a 20/10 for me.
The place was highly affordable, and despite being a fast-paced restaurant, the staff were genuinely kind and thoughtful. They even offered me a shot after finding out it was my birthday, which was a lovely gesture and made the experience even more special.
This blog is your sign that even if there is no one with you, you should still go out and do it alone, because you deserve to be celebrated ๐.
