Yes, you read that right. It is La Mia Mama, not Mamma Mia as this is exactly how I had been reading it ever since I first heard the name. This Italian restaurant is tucked away on the charming streets of Notting Hill, an area that always feels like a pleasant place to wander without a plan.
I ended up here after walking around the neighbourhood with my cousin in search of a football scarf. After discovering that the prices were almost double compared to the official ones sold at Chelsea Stadium, we decided it was time to give up the hunt and sit down for a proper meal. Once again, it was my sister who came to the rescue by finding this spot.
Restaurant Atmosphere and First Impressions
The moment we walked in, the restaurant gave off a relaxed and cosy vibe. The warm wooden flooring paired with soft yellow lighting made the space feel inviting and comfortable. It was the kind of place that encourages you to slow down, talk, and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed.
Food Review – Focaccia, Patate Arrosto, and Pizzas
We ordered four dishes in total: two sides and two mains. The sides were focaccia bread and patate arrosto, while the mains were the bufalina pizza and the tartufina pizza.
Based on my honest experience, I would say the food here was good, but not exceptional. I was particularly disappointed with the focaccia bread, as it was quite hard and difficult to bite into, which took away from the enjoyment.
The patate arrosto, however, was well executed. The potatoes were nicely roasted, and the combination of rosemary, sea salt, and olive oil worked beautifully. It was comforting, flavourful, and easily one of the highlights of the meal.
When it came to the pizzas, the tartufina was the clear standout for me. With mushrooms, gorgonzola, truffle sauce, grated black truffle, and stracciatella di burrata, it was rich, indulgent, and full of depth. I strongly believe that fresh truffle has the ability to elevate a dish from an average six to a solid nine. The bufalina pizza, however, felt quite bland to my taste, with very little flavour coming through. Out of the four dishes we ordered, I genuinely enjoyed one side and one main.
Overall Impression:
The pricing was fairly reasonable overall, but I would personally not recommend spending £13 on the bufalina pizza, especially when there are more interesting options on the menu. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which added positively to the experience.
Overall, I had a decent visit at La Mia Mama. It is one of those places that feels like it is almost there, but not quite yet, at least for me. Some elements worked well, while others left me wanting more.

A meal that leaves you thinking about what worked and what could have been better.
